I am looking for ANY information regarding an ancestor of mine who I firmly believe was born in Wayne County, NY in 1825 by the name of Simon (Simeon) Stephens (Stevens). His mother is probably named Phebe. I know that by the time he was 35, he was living in Illinois with his wife (Olive).
Any information is greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Name: Paul D Cole
City/State:
I am looking for information that may confirm (or not) that my ancestor John Cole 1787-1861 was living and working in Sodus area between 1812-1834.

One story says: "He had a brother and being dissatisfied with farming, went to USA sometime after 1812 to Sodus Pt or Charlotte NY where they worked at barrel making or fishing.

Another story had John Living in Oswego. (Oswego is on the south shore of Lake Ontario across from Prince Edward County. There is also another Oswego in the Town of Unionvale, Beekman, Dutchess County, NY.)

There was a Betsey Cole who was married to John's wife's sister's husband's brother, (Mary Ferguson married Rowland Jackson. Willet Jackson married Betsey Cole) and she might be a sister. John Cole was married to Patience Ferguson, daughter of Farrington Ferguson.

I am still trying to learn John Cole's parents' names after 25+ years of searching.

Thanks.

I would like to find out what years the "Heritage Shop" of Palmyra was in operation.
I'm trying to date some postcards that were printed for the "Heritage Shop Palmyra, New York".
They are from a series called "Wayne County, N.Y. - 1890's".
They appear to be reprints from early 1900's (circa 1905), but probably printed sometime between 1920 and 1950 or so.
Any information on possible years of operation would be appreciated.

... Thanks from Bob

I am looking for information on the family Emma Petty who married John Allison Cronk in Williamson, Wayne County, NY on February 17, 1884. The following day they left to move to Butler County, KS. Per family records, Emma's parents came from Holland, and she was born in New York on July 30, 1867. Although not certain, I believe her to be the daughter of John Petty, a widower who married a Catharine (Kate) Lambright in 1875 in Pultneyville.

Any information on the Petty family would be most appreciated.
