AGING FORUM HIGHLIGHTS SAFETY

The Wayne County Department of Aging and Youth presents an annual Aging Forum that not only offers a chance to learn about local aging-related programs and services but also includes informational and educational sessions on topics of interest to seniors and their family members.

We’re pleased to announce that the theme of this year’s Aging Forum is “Staying Safe” and will feature presentations by the Wayne County Fire Coordinator’s Office and the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.

Wayne County Fire Coordinator Rick Bond is scheduled to present his very informative fire and home safety program. Rick talks about some common—and frequently overlooked—hazards in the home that could cause serious injury if not corrected. Rick has spoken to hundreds of seniors at some of our previous public events and his program is always well-received.

Wayne County Sheriff Barry Virts has made senior safety a priority of his administration and the Department of Aging and Youth is pleased to partner with the Sheriff’s Office to help seniors and their caregivers learn more about what they can do to minimize the chances of being victims of cons, scams, theft, and other crimes of opportunity.

Please note that reservations are required. To register, call the Department of Aging and Youth at (315) 946-5624.
