Rabies Clinics For Pets
Rabies
continues to be an important public health concern in Wayne
County. Rabies vaccination
for your pets and valuable livestock is the most effective
measure you can take to prevent the spread of rabies. Per
state law, all dogs, cats, and Ferrets over the age
of 3 months are required to be vaccinated against rabies.
Pet owners are asked to bring prior vaccination records with
them when they bring their pets to the clinic. The first
rabies vaccination your pet receives is good for 1 year,
subsequent vaccination is good for 3 years. All dogs should
be leashed and all cats/ferrets be confined in a secure carrier
to prevent injuries and escapes. The clinic is free but a
$5.00 donation is requested to help defray the cost of the
clinic. No one will be turned away and no pet will be
denied vaccination should you choose not to donate. We encourage
you to take advantage of the rabies clinics to vaccinate your
pets.
